GST check: is my supplier GST-registered?
Only GST-registered businesses may charge GST, and input tax claimed against an unregistered supplier can be rejected. Paste the supplier UEN below to confirm the exact registered name (Step 1. Entity only, not the GST verdict), then run the free IRAS search for the GST result (Step 2). Two minutes, no account.
Confirm the entity below. The GST verdict itself comes from IRAS in Step 2. No public API exists for the IRAS GST search, so no tool can check GST inline.

Only the UEN string is sent for the register lookup. No account, no cookies.
What the IRAS result means
- Registered + effective date: the business may charge GST from that date. Check your invoice date falls on or after it, and that the GST number on the invoice matches the IRAS result.
- No record found: the business is not GST-registered. It may not issue tax invoices or charge GST. If your invoice shows GST, treat it as a stop signal, not a clerical gap.
- Name mismatch: the IRAS name, the ACRA registered name, and your invoice / bank payee should all point at the same entity. Three different names across GST, ACRA, and payee is the classic shape of a failed prepayment.
UEN vs GST number: the confusion that costs money
The UEN proves the entity exists on the ACRA register. The GST registration number proves IRAS authorised it to collect tax. A live UEN says nothing about GST status. Most small businesses and young companies are live but not GST-registered, because registration only becomes compulsory past the turnover threshold.
That is why the order matters: confirm the entity first with the free UEN lookup, then confirm the tax status on IRAS. Searching IRAS by name alone risks checking the wrong lookalike entity.
Checked GST. What next?
- Match the GST number on the tax invoice against the IRAS result, digit for digit.
- Confirm the ACRA side too: Live status, officers, and charges via the S$5.50 business profile before large deposits.
- Pay only the verified payee. The registered name, not a personal account or a lookalike trading name.
- Still unsure? The S$49 GST check verifies registration, standing, and invoice-to-register match with every line cited, in about 5 minutes.
Frequently asked questions about GST checks
How do I check if a company is GST-registered in Singapore?
Use the free IRAS GST Registered Business Search with the supplier UEN. Confirm the exact registered name first with the tool above so you search the right entity.
Is the GST registration check free?
Yes. The IRAS search is a free public e-service, and the UEN confirmation above is free too.
Is the UEN the same as the GST registration number?
No. The UEN is ACRA identity; the GST number is IRAS tax registration. A live UEN does not mean GST-registered. Always check both.
What if my supplier charges GST but is not registered?
Pause payment: only registered businesses may collect GST, and your input tax claim can be rejected. Get an explanation in writing, and know IRAS accepts reports of wrongful GST collection.
Does this page check GST status directly?
No. IRAS offers no open keyless API for the GST register (its API Marketplace product is gated), so this free page hands off to the official IRAS search. Step 1 above confirms the exact registered name; the GST verdict appears on the official IRAS search in Step 2.
Research, not advice. GST rules per IRAS published guidance; confirm registration on IRAS before claiming input tax.
